Our Programs

From its early days, Thanks To Scandinavia has been dedicated to involving younger generations of Scandinavians and building on a history of friendship. The foundation funds scholarships for students and teachers from Scandinavian countries and Bulgaria, giving them the opportunity to study in the United States and, since the 1990s, in Israel.

Thanks to support of our work over many years, TTS has been able to reach out to over 3,500 Scandinavian and Bulgarian students to express our gratitude for the heroic rescue of Jews during World War II, and to provide them with a meaningful connection to the United States and the Jewish people today.

Along with our graduate and undergraduate scholarships, we have established in recent years two annual trips that expose up-and-coming journalists to the Jewish community in the United States as well as the strong diverse fabric of this country, and to Israel.  These programs are building bridges and friendships between Scandinavians and Jews, while also promoting a larger sense of multi-culturalism. They are also helping us to reach truly outstanding individuals who play a role in shaping the beliefs and visions of their home countries.
