Scholarships In the U.S.

Fellowships in the U.S. are offered to candidates from all Scandinavian countries and from Bulgaria.

Thanks To Scandinavia offers dozens of scholarships annually to students pursuing study in the United States, in recognition of those who rescued Jews during World War II and in an effort to spread lessons of courage and humanity, and to build bridges between people, among future generations.

Annual grants for study in the United States

Thanks To Scandinavia is pleased to work with our Scandinavian and Bulgarian affiliates in order to award annual scholarships to Scandinavian students pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States. Applicants should go directly to our affiliated organizations in order to apply -- deadlines vary by country. Scholarships are not limited by subject matter or university. Go to Contact Info for our list of our affiliates.

In addition to open scholarships, Thanks To Scandinavia supporters have created perpetual endowments at various U.S. universities earmarked for financial aid to Scandinavian and Bulgarian students. Endowed universities are: Brandeis, Columbia, Cornell, and the Universities of Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. Scandinavian affiliates nominate students for this financial aid, and universities also directly nominate students. Please be in direct touch with the university's international student financial aide department, or contact tts@ajc.org for university-contacts.

Finally, Victor Borge has established the Thanks To Scandinavia Sanna and Victor Borge Scholarships at the Rebild Festival in Denmark. Danish students planning to study in the United States are selected every year by the Rebild Society for these awards. The Rebild Festival celebrates U.S. Independence Day and the Danish-American friendship. For contact information on the Rebild Festival and how to apply, go to www.rebildfesten.dk
