Founded by the Danish-born entertainer Victor Borge and
New York attorney Richard Netter in 1963, Thanks To Scandinavia
has devoted itself to telling the true story of Scandinavians
who rescued Jews during the Second World War and to conveying
its lessons to new generations. The TTS programs aim to
establish an important bridge between the United States,
Israel and the Scandinavian countries that is based on
memory but leads to the future.
SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE U.S.
Thanks To Scandinavia grants over $250,000 each year in scholarships
to dozens of Scandinavian students for study at American universities
and medical centers. As part of this effort, TTS supporters
have funded open grants as well as annual scholarships at specific
universities throughout the country. Click here for practical information
about life in the United States
SCHOLARSHIPS IN ISRAEL
Each year, TTS has awarded eight summer Fellowships at Hebrew
University in Jerusalem and two full-time Sperling Scholarships.
TTS also supports a program for Scandinavian teachers at Yad
Vashem in Israel. In 2003, to mark its 40th anniversary, Thanks
To Scandinavia began an annual program to give scholarships to participants in the
TTS-Project Interchange trip for Scandinavian leaders to Israel.
