Thanks To Scandinavia Notes With Sadness the Passing of Mrs. Elena Anger
Thanks To Scandinavia notes with sadness the passing of Mrs. Elena Anger, wife of the late Per Anger. The couple was together in Budapest during the Second World War, when Per Anger, a diplomat in the position of second secretary at the Swedish Embassy, came up with the idea of issuing Swedish provisional passports and certificates to Jews facing deportation and murder at the hands of the Nazis. Later, Anger worked alongside Wallenberg, who dedicated himself solely to the task of rescuing Jews — and tens of thousands of lives were saved thanks to their bold efforts. Anger has been recognized in Israel and Sweden for his decency and courage. Mrs. Anger will be missed; her memory and that of her husband remain an inspiration.
