TTS hosts 21 Scandinavian students of journalism for visit to US
At a time when major European leaders are voicing concern about faltering integration of immigrants, Thanks To Scandinavia is sponsoring a delegation of 21 students of journalism to investigate and report on multiculturalism in the United States. The group is traveling for one week to Washington, DC, and New York Cityand being briefed by a range of religious and ethnic leaders (including New York Urban League, American Jewish Committee, Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow, La Raza). The trip comes shortly after Sweden’s September election of members of a far-right anti-immigrant party into parliament for the first time.
The goal of the program is to familiarize up-and-coming journalists in Scandinavia – key opinion leaders – with models of integration in the United States. The program is designed to strengthen transatlantic cooperation and communication on these and other important issues, and has a special focus on the Jewish community.
