Thanks To Scandinavia Welcomes Friends and Alumni in Helsinki
Thanks To Scandinavia a project of the late Victor Borge and of New York attorney Richard Netter is hosting a first-time reunion for Thanks To Scandinavia friends and scholarship recipients in cooperation with the League of Finnish-American Societies in Helsinki on Jan. 22. Similar reunions are taking place Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. The outreach efforts aim to strengthen bridges of understanding between Scandinavia and the United States, Israel, and Jews worldwide.
Since its founding in 1963, Thanks To Scandinavia has provided scholarships allowing thousands of students, teachers, and medical professionals to study in the United States, Scandinavia, and Israel. Currently, Thanks To Scandinavia distributes over $250,000 in grants annually. In Finland, Thanks To Scandinavia selects students through its cooperation with the League of Finnish-American Societies.
With Thanks To Scandinavia’s new website — www.ThanksToScandinavia.org — the foundation has increased capacity to stay in touch with its thousands of alumni and continue the exchange it promotes through virtual dialogue.
Thanks To Scandinavia has also published a book on the history of Finland and the Holocaust by Dr. Hannu Rautkallio that is distributed through the Thanks To Scandinavia office and at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. It is the only book of its kind in the English language.

Thanks To Scandinavia the foundation created by the late Victor Borge and by New York attorney Richard Netter is hosting a first-time reunion for Thanks To Scandinavia friends and scholarship recipients in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States in Denmark on February 1. The outreach effort aims to strengthen bridges of understanding between Denmark, the United States, Israel, and Jews worldwide.
Since its founding in 1963, Thanks To Scandinavia has provided scholarships allowing thousands of students, teachers, and medical professionals to study in the United States, Denmark, and Israel. Currently, Thanks To Scandinavia distributes over $250,000 in grants annually. In Denmark, Thanks To Scandinavia selects students through its cooperation with the Denmark-America Foundation.

TTS will also be hosting reunions this winter in Finland, Norway, and Sweden as well as in Denmark.
Thanks To Scandinavia has also translated a book on the history of Jews in Denmark from 1933 to 1945 called Passage to Palestine: Young Jews in Denmark, 1932-1945 by Jorgen Haestrup, and funded the re-publication of The Rescue of Danish Jewry by Leni Yahil and October ’43 by Aage Bertelsen. The books are distributed through the Thanks To Scandinavia office in New York.
